Summer fellowship for school teachers - 2025

Every summer we host a three-week fellowship for three middle-school and high-school teachers. We encourage those interested in researching and using archival records as teaching tools to apply. The teachers will be meeting and working with archivists, historians, researchers, scientists and users of the archive, and may be asked to prepare teaching plans or tools using primary sources and expected to give an informal talk about your experience.  

Mode: In person on weekdays from 10 AM to 3 PM, at NCBS, Bangalore.

Stipend:  Rs 10,000 (meals and refreshments will also be provided).

Duration: For three weeks between 31 March - 18 April, 2025

Number of positions: 3

Review process: The application form includes provisions for uploading a resume and a statement of intent for the fellowship. A selection committee assembled from within NCBS, will shortlist candidates from the applications we receive. The Committee may then request for references from shortlisted applicants and/or hold interviews with them to make a final selection. All applicants will be notified of the results.

Timeline:

  • Application deadline: March 15, 2025 !

  • Selected candidates for the interviews notified: 20 March, 2025.

  • Selected candidates announced: 25 March 2024.

Summer fellowship for high school students - 2025

Suppose you are a student who likes digging through old letters, photographs, notebooks, diaries, media clippings and audio recordings to look for clues and unearth exciting science stories. In that case, this summer fellowship is for you.

Students get to spend 3 weeks at the Archives at NCBS in the summer (April-May). 

They get to discover how science and history intersect and work with archivists and staff to sleuth stories and trivia using the Archive’s resources.

 

Eligibility: Open for high-school students. Ages 14-18.

Mode: In person on weekdays from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Archives at NCBS, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore.
